So what are we supposed to do with our equation of life. For all you biology nuts out there this is not a post about the equation for respiration. This post is designed to challenge those tosing with the decision of their emotions. To those of us who are in a relationship, have had a crush or fancy that someone at school or work I pose this question, 'How do you know if you are in love and if it will last?'
To be honest you dont and probably wont for a very long time. Even after marriage and children, even though there are those glimers of lovebut, there is still a chance that your partner can leave you. I have through my few and first experience defined love at constantly thinking of what the other person wants, however recently I have not done so. Most people are or have come to this postion in my relationship, you become comfortable with the person you are with and because of that let your guard down and end up showing a different side of yourself to them or at least let loose the full effect of your emotions.
This showing of emotions or other side may scare the person and change there emotions, but then ask them and yourself, why did you date me or fall in love with me expecting all and only good things?. All people have good and bad qualities and this begs the question of what is so bad in a relationship that means the one party has to leave, especially if you 'love' each other.
Anyways comment below and let me know your opinions on love, what you define it by, similar experiences and maybe I can help.
Love.. I believe that love is defined perfectly in 1 Corinthians. God shows the ultimate meaning of love. God IS love. If you're having trouble defining it, look to God and look to His Word. I don't think 'Constantly thinking about the other person and what they would want' is in the bible. Ultimately, it is sin which fails us in relationships. Also, if you and your partner are both Christians, you should know that after marriage there is NO going back. Divorce is not an option basically - except for extreme circumstances. So, if you can't 100% trust the person not to leave, chances are you are not ready to marry them and perhaps they aren't the one for you.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what you have just said, God is love and we should look to him, but for an average person whom doesnt have God who should they then look toward and how do they define love? Even in a christian relationship as you have said 'Divorce is not an option basically - except for extreme circumstances' - there is still that chance that it could not work out. ANd you have answered that with the solution, it is trust that we need and require. Without trust there is no relationship, it all falls down, christian relationship or not, we all need trust. As christians we are not only trusting in the other party of our relationship but God as well. If neither of those people has your full trust then issuses most certainly will arise. I know that i trust my partner with many things, things that I dont even share with my parents or best friends, but that ultimate trust for most usually comes when marriage draws near. It wont be within the first week of a relationship that someone spills their darkest secrects but rather after the course of 3years of dating. Trust is something that is not just 100% given to each other, atlthough it can be for some people, but it is also built over time such as the 3yrs of dating both parties in their respective relationships build trust, grow in their faith, love each other more and more and eventually if both parties reach the 100% trust/love/faith mark they will most likely marry.
